TRUNKY JUNO PATRICK SWAYZE

“Here comes that same day dream again / Where I’m Patrick Swayze and I want you to dance with me / But I’m cursing these two left feet as you take to the sky on the arms of some other guy.” This might be one of our favourite lyrics we’ve heard in quite some time, and throughout all of Trunky Juno’s track, there’s line upon line of original and imaginative ponderings on distant admiration and unrequited love. ‘Patrick Swayze’ is the sophomore track from 5he little-known British name, which follows debut song ‘Small Town’. Speaking about his second dose hazy slacker-pop, TJ says: “'Patrick Swayze' went through a lot of iterations. It used to be a lot more Lynyrd Skynyrd, which in itself isn’t a bad thing, but it’s not really what I was hoping for. It was after I borrowed an old Roland 09 from a friend of mine that it really came to life. After lots of hours working on it I sent my stems over to Summer Heart, who absolutely nailed it, and the rest is history.” With OG culture references, lo-fi recording, wobbling textures and, most importantly, dogs modelling for each track, we’re fast becoming a fan of Trunky Juno. - Hannah Thacker
